Things to know Before Booking Lip Blushing

Coldsores

Clients may experience a cold sore or herpes outbreak after the service. If you have ever been exposed to the HSV-1 virus, you may develop a cold sore afterward, even if you’ve never had one before. Lip blushing does not cause herpes, but it can activate the dormant virus in your body.

We recommend all clients take a natural antiviral like L-Lysine or a prescription antiviral such as acyclovir as a precaution.

Can you make lips bigger with lip blushing?

No, you cannot achieve larger lips through tattooing alone. If you want bigger lips, you would need fillers or surgery. The tissue in the lips and the skin on your face are very different. Tattooing above the lip tissue can give the appearance of a Kool-Aid mustache, which is generally not desirable.

My Lips are a-symmetrical, can you help me acheive better balance?

Possibly, but only minor a-symmetry can be corrected because we are unable to tattoo outside of the lip tissue. Usually about 1 mm or less is correctable.

Will Lip blushing cover my freckles?

Nope! Lip Blush does not cover freckles.

Does it hurt?

We do everything in our power to keep our clients comfortable. Most clients report no more than a 4/10 pain under the nose. Generally service is very well tolerated.

Dark Lip Neutralization

If you’re a woman of colour with a Fitzpatrick type of 4+ this part is for you. Women of color have higher risks associated with treatment.

Dark lips might experience hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation

Due to the disruption of Eumelanin during the tattooing process your lips may become blacker or whiter after the procedure. This is a normal variation of the healing process and should resolve between 12-16 weeks after first session.

Dark lips may require more treatments

Just as it is harder to go blonde at the hairdresser—going lighter with lips is more challenging than a regular lip blush. It takes longer to do, requires more knowledge of color theory, and may need additional sessions to achieve your desired result. For dark lips, expect at least three sessions, possibly more.
